Safer sleeping

We follow all DfE rules and guidance on sleep, so your child can rest safely at nursery.

Sleep at nursery

We ask all parents of children under 2 to bring a sleeping bag, to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). We keep our rooms at a comfortable temperature, so children are not too warm or too cold.

Staff stay in the room while children sleep and watch them closely, and we check on them every 10 minutes for as long as they are asleep.

Safer sleep tips

Back to sleep

Always place your baby on their back for every sleep, day and night.

Clear cot

Keep the cot free of pillows, duvets, cot bumpers, soft toys, pods, nests and loose bedding.

Firm mattress

Use a firm, flat, waterproof mattress that fits the cot closely with no gaps.

Feet to foot

Place your baby with their feet at the bottom of the cot, with lightweight blankets tucked in no higher than their shoulders.

Right temperature

Keep the room between 16°C and 20°C to prevent overheating.
